Sony shared new details Marvel’s Spider Man 2 during the PlayStation Showcase on Wednesday. The game’s central villain will be Kraven the Hunter – this guy – and the lengthy new gameplay footage showed Peter Parker wielding new powers with a symbiote suit. Suffice to say, it seems much darker than the first game. We also took a look at Miles Morales, who will be playable in the new game. The sequel has no specific release date, but will launch sometime this fall.
Here’s a look at Kraven specifically:
spiderman 2 was first announced in September 2021, revealing that Peter Parker and Miles Morales would be back and that Venom would appear in the game. The title is a PS5 exclusive, but given Sony’s many recent PC ports, I wouldn’t be surprised if it comes to PC in the future. (Hopefully it doesn’t start as rough as The last of us.)
spider man 2 follows that of 2018 Marvel’s Spider Man (which was remastered for the PS5 launch) and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales (a spin-off of the original that was also released with the PS5). The Spider-Man series has been a huge success for PlayStation, with over 33 million copies sold in June, so spider man 2 could be one of the biggest games of the year.
Developer Insomniac Games is also working on a game featuring another major Marvel superhero: Wolverine.
