NEW YORK–(COMMERCIAL THREAD) – Oppenheimer & Co. Inc., a unit of Oppenheimer Holdings (NYSE: OPY), is pleased to announce the continued expansion of its Global Emerging Markets (EM) Fixed Income business. The firm hired three new general managers to its New York sales office, including Michael Bellero, Alex Gutierrez and Ken Lockyer. They will report to Peter Albano, Managing Director – Taxable Fixed Income Sales, and Greg Fisher, Managing Director – Institutional Sales in Emerging Markets. “As other companies exit the emerging markets industry or reduce their engagement, we are expanding our franchise,” said Greg Fisher.

Cliff Huang joined the firm in Hong Kong as Managing Director – responsible for fixed income sales and trading in Asia. In addition, the company hired John Coates in London as Head of Emerging Markets Trading for EMEA Sovereign and Corporate Bonds.

Each of these new CEOs has had distinguished careers in institutional fixed income sales and trading in emerging markets. In addition, all of them have previously worked with senior fixed income Oppenheimer employees.

“We are delighted to bring together seasoned professionals who have been successful in working together in the past,” said Peter Albano, who joined Oppenheimer earlier this year.

Michael Bellero has focused exclusively on emerging market sales for over 25 years. At Jefferies, he expanded distribution with some of Jefferies’ largest institutional fixed income EM clients. He was a senior institutional salesperson at Bear Stearns for six years and a founding member of the EM Fixed Income group of ABN AMRO.

Alex has focused on institutional sales in Latin America and the United States for most of his career and was responsible for Latin America distribution at Bear Stearns, where he worked for 14 years.

Ken Lockyer joins Oppenheimer from Jefferies where he was Managing Director of the Emerging Markets Sales Team. With over 28 years of experience in the global fixed income markets, Ken has particular expertise in global high yield credit products and emerging markets. Ken worked at Bear Stearns for 17 years and was a founding member of its EM Fixed Income Office.

Cliff Huang was most recently at Knight Capital Asia Limited, where he was responsible for establishing the Hong Kong office in 2004 and overseeing their fixed income businesses. Previously, Cliff worked for Citicorp, HSBC and Bankers Trust, still in high yield fixed income and emerging markets.

John Coates has over 20 years of global fixed income trading experience, with all forms of corporate and sovereign debt instruments. Prior to joining Oppenheimer, John was Director of European Corporate Debt Securities Trading at Mizuho and held senior positions at Landsbanki and Mitsubishi.

“Oppenheimer has brought together an exceptional group of fixed income professionals to represent our sales and trading activities in global emerging markets.
