On Christmas Day, NASA will launch one of the most anticipated spacecraft in decades: a next-generation observatory called the James Webb Space Telescope, or JWST. It’s taken NASA about 25 years to get this vehicle ready for launch, and sending it to space is an incredibly complex undertaking. But if all goes well, JWST promises to look deeper into the Universe than ever before, looking at some of the oldest stars and galaxies while deepening our understanding of astrophysics.

Follow all our updates as NASA prepares to launch this massive new telescope into space.
