Another day, another made-up vacation. In honor of National Streaming Day on May 20 — a holiday I recently discovered existed — Hulu is essentially giving away two months of its ad-supported subscription for free.
Let me explain. Until May 27 at 11:59 PM PT (or May 28 at 2:59 AM ET), you can subscribe to Hulu’s ad-supported plan for just $2 per month for the first three months. Usually, the basic plan runs $7.99 per month or about $24 for three months, which means you save $18 — or essentially get about two months free. Moreover, the deal is not only available to new subscribers, but also to returning subscribers who canceled at least a month ago.
If you don’t mind a few ads every now and then, the entry level plan is otherwise similar to the ad-free tier. Both give members access to thousands of movies and TV shows, including future seasons of Futurama And The bear when they premiere this summer. You just can’t download content for offline viewing like you can with the more premium plans, even if the ad-free tier gives you access to the same catalog and lets multiple people stream content at the same time.
Just be sure to mark your calendar if you don’t want to pay full price at the end of the promotional period. After all, your subscription will jump back to the regular rate of $7.99 per month after the three-month window.
