NEW YORK–(COMMERCIAL THREAD) –BTIG today announced that it has hired emerging market debt specialist John Phillips as Managing Director to join the company’s fixed income lending division. In his new role at BTIG, he will report directly to Michael Carley, Sr. and Darren Haines, Managing Directors and Co-Heads of BTIG Fixed Income Credit.

Mr. Phillips has over 25 years of industry experience. He was Director of Emerging Markets Debt Sales at BTIG earlier in his career. Prior to joining the company, he was Managing Director of Emerging Markets Debt Sales and Trading at Seaport Group, where he spent seven years. Previously, Mr. Phillips was Director of Emerging Markets Fixed Income Sales and Trading at Newedge Securities USA. He was also Senior Vice President of Debt Sales at Cantor Fitzgerald. In addition, Mr. Phillips held various positions in New York and London within global markets and investment banking at Merrill Lynch, where he spent over a decade.
